The Orchestra's annual program of activities is extensive (about 150 performances) and includes subscription series in Padova, concerts in regional centres, guest performances for well renowned italian chamber music Festivals, international tours on a regular basis (Europe, Japan, Nord and South America). The first Music Director of the Orchestra was Claudio Scimone, followed by Bruno Giuranna and Guido Turchi. Mario Brunello was the Music Director from 2002 to 2004. Filippo Juvarra is the Artistic Manager of the Orchestra since 1994. Violinist Piero Toso is the Concertmaster since its foundation. Maestro Peter Maag, critically acclaimed as one of the world's renowned performers of Mozart repertoire, has been the Principal Conductor of the ensemble from 1983 to 2001. The Orchestra has been distinguished by the number of top musicians and acclaimed soloists who have joined its ranks (Argerich , Ashkenazy, Ax, Buchbinder, Fournier, Maisky, Mutter, Mintz, Perahia, Perlman, Rostropovich, Szeryng, Zimerman…) and the outstanding roster of international guest conductors with whom it has played (Barbirolli, Brueggen, Chailly Gavazzeni, Goebel, Marriner, Melles, K. Richter, Vegh, among others). François-Joël Thiollier is one of today’s most complete pianists and musicians. Thiollier’s enormous repertoire (more than 80 concerts), his exceptional musical culture and his extraordinary pianistic command are the key to his International success confirmed by 8 «Grands Prix» in international piano competitions , notably the Brussels Queen Elizabeth and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Prizes, and more than 40 CDs recorded with Naxos.
